Leanna Potts

Leanna K. Potts is a freelance writer who has published articles pertaining to numerous contemporary Native American cultural subjects that include interviews with Native American artists, spiritual leaders, and powwow dancers as well as the subject of New World crops and the cultures that produced them. She is a native of Colorado which is where she attended her first powwow at age 8. Through a previous marriage, she was introduced to the Cheyenne culture. She currently resides in Arkansas where she has been an active member of a gourd society and continues to enjoy powwowing and stomp dancing. This varied background led to the writing of POWWOW PICKUP.

Gregory Townes

Gregory Townes was born and raised in the Bedford Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York Similar to the esteemed authors of the Harlem Renaissance, his writing attempts to redefine the boundaries of African American literature and expression. 

His interdisciplinary approach to writing brings together several genres into one, as well as several historical eras. 

His blend of history and fantasy can be traced to his early childhood years.
His first book "The Tribe" is a powerful example of his symbolic and collaborative style. He draws upon the richness of both modern urban life and ancient culture within the context of an African centered perspective.

As the oldest of eight children he would often entertain his siblings with creative bedtime stories.  He is now the father of four, and still telling bedtime stories.


Niambia Davis

Niambi was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She and her family lived for many years in Washington, DC and for three and a half years, made the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago their home.  From Dusk to Dawn, her first full-length novel, and Love’s Redemption, a digital novella, were both published in 2008. In 2010 Sanctuary was released as an Apple iTunes application. She has written for Bronze Thrills, True Confessions and Black Romance Magazines.

Niambi indulged her passion for sailing and travel by serving as publicist for the Black Boaters Summit and as a member of the National Association of Black Travel Writers. She has written for Travel Lady and Travel and Enjoy Magazines. Aside from travel and writing, Niambi is an avid reader of historical fiction, and deeply involved in tracing the history of both branches of her family tree.  Her day job is running the business of Sand & Silk / Soleful Strut, her own line of handcrafted bath and body products.

Donna Hill

Donna Hill began her career in 1987 writing short stories for the confession magazines. Since that time she has more than fifty published titles to her credit since her first novel was released in 1990, and is considered one of the early pioneers of the African American romance genre.  Three of her novels have been adapted for television.

She has been featured in Essence, the New York Daily News, USA Today, Today’s Black Woman, and Black Enterprise among many others. She has appeared on numerous radio and television stations across the country and her work has appeared on several bestseller lists, including Essence, Emerge and The Dallas Morning News among others. She has received numerous awards for her body of work—which cross several genres-- including The Career Achievement Award, the first recipient of The Trailblazer Award, The Zora Neale Hurston Literary Award, The Gold Pen Award among others, as well as commendations for her community service. Donna co-wrote the screenplay Fire, which enjoyed limited theater release before going to DVD.

As an editor she has packaged several highly successful novels, and anthologies, two of which were nominated for awards. For the past year, Donna has been a writing instructor with the Elders Writing Program sponsored by Medgar Evers College through Poets & Writers, with a goal of compiling the memoirs of the elders for publication. Donna currently lives in Brooklyn with her family and works full–time, as a writer, for the Brooklyn Borough President’s office.


Nancy Loyan Schuemann

Purveyor of the written word, Nancy Loyan Schuemann has been writing ever since she began composing picture books for fellow students in elementary school.

After graduating with a BSBA degree in marketing from John Carroll University, she pursued a career in sales and marketing. During the past ten years she has incorporated those skills into a professional writing career. She is a freelance writer specializing in construction, design, architecture, histories, profiles, antique safes, dance, travel and special interest in local and national publications. She has taught writing at the prestigious Chautauqua Institution in New York State.

Nancy is a Cleveland, Ohio native who shares her knowledge of the city as author of Cleveland, Ohio: A Photographic Portrait and On the Threshold of a New Century: The City of South Euclid, 1967-1999. Her love, however, is writing women's fiction.

Travel has taken her around the world, including trips to Egypt and the exotic Seychelles Islands. When she's not writing, Nancy teaches and performs, Middle Eastern dance as "Nailah." Zaji is a freelance writer, author, journalist, speech writer, copywriter and copyeditor who has worked with Oprah Magazine, Essence, Black Enterprise, Black Voices, Fierce, The Source, Kuji: The Lifestyle Guide to Self Enrichment and NV Magazine (New Vision in Business), as well as the Chicago Defender, QBR The Black Book Review and the Harlem Book Fair, in positions ranging from freelance writer and fact-checker to researcher, editor and associate publisher. Her journalistic skills allowed her to skillfully conduct flawless research and masterful interviews. Since then she has published dozens of articles covering business, literary and general topics.

Zaji has done extensive copy writing and copyediting for corporate clients, covering marketing campaign collateral, press releases, and speech writing for awards and publicity events. She has also copyedited for academic clients, covering course instruction and seminars, lectures, interviews, articles, performances and exhibits. Her client list includes L'Oreal's Soft Sheen Carson and Fathom, which covered such institutions as The British Library, American Film Institute, The British Museum, Cambridge University Press, Columbia University, London School of Economics, RAND, Natural History Museum, University of Chicago, University of Michigan, Victoria & Albert Museum, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Science Museum and New York Public Library and many others. She has prepared effective grant proposals and business letters and has served as ghostwriter for the Director of the National Brotherhood of Skiers.

She taught journalism and writing on the weekends to freshman high school students at Hostos Community College through a program run by Young Athletes, Inc. (Y.A.I.)/GEAR UP.

Zaji earned her B.A. in English from Iona College where she graduated with Honors in her major, and was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society. She completed her Masters (M.S.) with Honors (magna cum laude) in Journalism at the same institution. She will be pursuing an M.F.A. in Writing and a Doctorate in Philosophy in the near future.
